Foundation Training

What is Foundation Training?

Foundation Training is a simple, intentional movement practice designed to help your body support itself more effectively. It focuses on creating space, strength, and stability so you can move through life with less strain and more confidence. At Russian River Chiropractic, we use Foundation Training to complement chiropractic care and help translate adjustments into lasting, real-world change.

Active Engagement & Support

Foundation Training teaches your body how to actively support itself rather than relying on passive structures or bracing. Through breath, position, and muscular engagement, you build strength where you need it most—especially through the hips, spine, and trunk. This creates a feeling of stability that carries into daily life, work, exercise, and parenting.

Anchoring & Decompression

At its core, Foundation Training is built on two essential movement principles: anchoring and decompression.

Anchoring creates a strong, stable base by actively engaging everything below the pelvis—your feet, legs, and hips—so force is distributed efficiently through the body.

Decompression encourages everything above the pelvis to lengthen up and out, creating space through the spine and allowing nerves, organs, and surrounding tissues to function the way they’re meant to.

Together, these principles help reduce unnecessary compression, improve posture, and restore a sense of ease and support in the body.

Re-Wiring Functional Movement Patterns

Over time, stress, injury, and modern lifestyles can pull us into inefficient movement patterns. Foundation Training helps re-educate your nervous system by reinforcing more functional ways to stand, hinge, lift, walk, and move. This “re-wiring” supports better coordination, improved resilience, and a body that adapts more effectively to the demands of life.

How It Complements
Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic care helps restore motion, balance, and nervous system function. Foundation Training helps you keep those changes by giving your body the tools to move and support itself well between visits.

Together, they create a powerful foundation for long-term strength, adaptability, and confidence.
